NWWC POLL: Cast your vote for the best guest in the history of Wild Country!
UPDATED Dec. 29, 2011 / 5:50 p.m.
SEATTLE - As I think back over the 9-year history of Northwest Wild Country, a bajillion superstar interviews come to mind. My favorite?
NCAA coaching legend Bobby Knight, who talked fishing and basketball with us on July 3, 2007. Not far behind on my list of favorite guests was Les "Survivorman" Stroud and Jeremy Wade of "River Monsters". And Steve Rinella. And all five of the original "Deadliest Catch" captains. And Tred Barta. And Kevin VanDam, Skeet Reese, Mike Iaconelli, Luke Clausen, Shaw Grigsby, Jimmy Houston ... and on and on and on.
We've done over 3,500 interviews with the superstarts of the hunting and fishing world since we went on the air, so maybe it's hard for us to choose a favorite. So, that's where YOU come in. I figured it was time to take a little poll.

NWWC ASK THE EXPERTS PODCAST: KVD in a NW Wild Country exclusive!
POSTED Oct. 23, 2011 / 10:30 p.m.
SEATTLE - Confession time: I rolled into the NW Wild Country studios on Saturday with a very fractured plan. As in, no plan at all.
I believe the technical term for it is "winging it". Herzog, Big D. and Petosa were all out of town, leaving yours truly and Leeper to knock out the latest version of America's No. 1 outdoors radio show.
Thank goodness for sources like Kevin VanDam.
XLISTEN IN AS THE FOUR-TIME BASSMASTER CLASSIC CHAMPION serves up advice on fishing for smallmouth during the fall transition.

SEATTLE - It's with a heavy heart that I heard the news of yesterday's passing of Capt. Phil Harris of the FV Cornelia Marie. The Wild Country team cherishes the time he gave us. I can't say it any better than these tributes to Phil from the people who knew him best:

WILD COUNTRY ALL-STAR: Barta talks Pacific NW tuna
PODCAST March 15, 2009 / 12:40 p.m

SEATTLE, Wash. - Love him for his honesty or hate him for his brashness, there's no denying that Tred Barta knows a thing or two about tuna fishing. So when Barta proclaims the Pacific Northwest albacore fishery is "one of the most exciting in the world", it's time to sit up and take notice.
The unsinkable host of "The Best & Worst of Tred Barta" brought 30 minutes of high-octane tuna enthusiasm to the Northwest Wild Country airwaves on March 14.
X CHECK OUT Part I of our 30-minute interview with Hurricane Barta here. You'll find Part II of II in the WildCast Center.
