The rig above is the result of that. I built it for Palmer Lake, which is a little stained: around 8 feet of visibility. That Simon Wobbler has such a big wave in it, it whips around back there and gives you way more action than a regular dodger. Combined with all that UV and flash on the Wedding Ring and Rooster Tail blade? BLAM! 8HIT THE NW WILD COUNTRY FACEBOOK PAGE to see how our resident koke fiend did on his mid-week run over to Palmer Lake![]() KOKANEE REPORT: Herzog's Palmer Lake flame run: Hootenanny yankitude POSTED May 6, 2011 / 8:30 p.m. LOOMIS, Wash. - One can only attempt to exist in the reality that is Bill Herzog's particular sickness. Depart Tacoma at midnight, arrive at Palmer Lake 5 hours, 18 minutes later, limit out on 17- to 20-inch kokanee, and back on the road home. That's 10 1/2 hours of road time, in case you were counting. Was it worth it? You tell me. 8HIT THE NW WILD COUNTRY FACEBOOK PAGE to see how our resident koke fiend did on his mid-week run over to Palmer Lake.
LAKE STEVENS, Wash. - On the April 2 show, Lake Stevens guide John Thomas made the observation that Snohomish County's favorite kokanee lake needed to get just a little warmer for the bite to turn on. Looks like Mother Nature heard him. Mark Spada of Yakima Bait rolled out a luminous pink tiger Silver Magic behind a UV Trout Dodger for the nice jag of kokes above. Looks like things should be cooking come May 21, when the 2nd Annual Lake Stevens Kokanee Derby kicks off.
SEATTLE - Seems like the recent lowland trout opener was a case of "You shoulda been (fill in the blank with Lake X)." Some lakes produced, some did not. But as fellow North End scribe Wayne Kruse of the Everett Herald points out: "As long as you have a doughnut, the morning is a success." 8NOTHING SAYS 'OPENING MORNING' LIKE POWDERED DONUTS as this report on PiscatorialPursuits.com shows.
